AstrOlympics

astrolympics

NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory Communications group is organizing an innovative project, named AstrOlympics that blends science and sports. During the event, physical concepts and discoveries from space made with Chandra and other telescopes are explained and compared with common every day experiences and Olympic events. For example, the speed section compares the world’s fastest sprinter to how the debris of an exploded star moves.

The AstrOlympics are scheduled to be displayed in dozens of locations in the United States, Brazil, Uruguay and more.
